We were at Lucky Bean yesterday for the Melville Street Festival. What a great vibe. The placed was packed and, although you could see the waiters were busy, they were still friendly and attentive. The bar area is a really cool space to relax, as is the balcony section. This spot has a long earned reputation for great food, and clearly the standards have been maintained. Well done Lucky Bean!
Lucky Bean boasts a cozy, relaxed atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and always helpful with menu choices. Their wine selection is pretty decent and you can always find something to suit your tastes.
The vegetarian offering, even though delicious, is sparse.
Definitely a thumbs up and here's hoping they'll add a little bit more for us vegetarian foodies.
The Lucky Bean. The only stop we have time for, the only taste of Jo'burg we can get this time around. . If this is truly their flavor, then Jo'burg is decidedly delicious. There is not a single non-standout on their menu, and our first authentic taste of South Africa is sublime. Ground meat spills generously from the Ostrich Bobotie Parcel. Thin layers of pastry dough form a lean purse, drier and milder than beef, assertively spiced with a sweet-tart banana conserve on the side.
