For curry UNBEATABLE. REALLY good food, friendly and efficient service, pleasant atmosphere and very good value. Highly recommended. We had lamb korma which was not too hot and very tasty. Management was attentive but not intrusive
Our favourite Indian spot in Johannesburg. There is always great service and amazing spicy food! Their curries are to die for with my favourite garlic naan bread.
The service was great to begin with even though we went on New Year's Eve and the place was closing early. We ordered starters, including chicken samoosas and what I think were supposed to be chilli bites. Both were quite tasty although neither had any form of chilli in them, so were a bit bland for Indian food. The samoosa was also made very differently from what we were used to (Durban-style), with quite thick pastry. In my view, a samoosa should have thin, crispy pastry and have been pulled fresh from the hot oil minutes before being served.
For mains we ordered tandoori chicken with fries for myself and my wife tried the chicken in coconut and cumin sauce. Both were great although my tandoori chicken was like eating fire (my fault, I should have opted for a medium heat) so I could only manage half. We had a great time but when the bill arrived the price of drinks spoiled the experience. R32 for a Windhoek Light?! Seriously? Come on, restaurant owners, people are tired of getting soaked for their drinks. And let's lose that corkage charge shall we? I can tell that in future we will be picking restaurants that DON'T charge corkage.
That said, when we are really lusting after some curry in mid-winter I may well give it another try but won't be ordering any beers, that's for sure.
