My husband and I have been going to this Ocean Basket every month (at least once), without fail, for just over a year now
The service is always great and the food is always fresh and as delicious as Ocean Basket's dishes are known to be.
We have never been disappointed, until our last visit a couple of Sundays ago. The restaurant was busy so it took a while for a waiter to attend to our table and we waited quite a while for our food. When the food arrived, I was really disappointed at the amount of food that was presented to us. The portion size (of rice, chips and sauce respectively) seemed to have decreased significantly and the food was cold. In addition, the kitchen had run out of squid tentacles and we had three different waiters, which really took away from the pleasant experience we normally had at the restaurant.
These may seem like minor details compared to complaints others have had in the past, but when you've been supporting a business for as long as we have, you expect a certain level of service. I also feel that one of the things that make a restaurant good is its consistency in the level of service provided regardless of how busy the restaurant is.
I shall be returning in future in hopes of receiving the great service I had received in the past. I'd hate to have to find a new Ocean Basket for my monthly fix of delicious seafood because this branch is close to home and my husband and I have developed good relationships with many of the staff members.
All together now: GARLIC BUTTER SAUCE! Also, I converted a few non-believers into sushi-lovers. Bonus-point! The food was freshly prepared, the service though: bleh.
Tried this ocean basket once after visiting the cheetah outreach. I had the calamari and Sashen had the hake. We both enjoyed our meals. Just found the chips to be a little limp other than that friendly service.
