Wow, it's very nice. The place itself was looking really nice. We didn't eat in for this time around as it was a really cold day. We decided to just have the takeaway so we could go home and eat in the comfort of our own home. They staff was so supper helpful and friendly and was so helpful. The staff were so warm and welcoming to us while placing the order and even waiting for the food. Overall, it was a good visit for takeaway food. Food was very nicely prepared and had a really awesome taste and had been a while since we have had nando due to the price being so much more than what it used to be.
I love their food and their desserts are so good especially the malva pudding, the service is always good and the restaurant has such a good vibe with very well mannered staff. I don't have to wait long for my food so service is quick. I do wish they had more dessert options tho.
Today l thought l would go try out Nando's latest Double Sosaties with Chips and a Garlic Roll for R79,00. I decided to sit down for the lunch instead of having it as a take-away.
Unfortunately when my plate arrived the sosaties were cold...l mean almost fridge cold to the touch. However, before l put you off, allow me to explain what happened next.
Fortunately and to my credit l stayed calm and thought - there must be something wrong. I know Nando's food and service long enough to know that this must have just been a "human" error and so l called the waitress and explained to her that the sosaties were cold but that the chips were hot.
She apologized and took my plate and within less than a minute l had the Manager come and explain the problem. It was a common thing that l had experienced in my past having owned franchise takeaways myself.
The franchisors train the staff to grill or cook certain foods in a certain way and unfortunately they had obviously not done their homework properly to make sure to train the grillers to cook or grill the chicken or in this case - the sosaties - for longer than 1-2mins.
So apparently the food came to my table as prescribed by the franchisor and not by logical common sense to first look and see if the flame had warmed up the pre-packaged and pre-cooked chicken before serving it to the customer.
But this is where things got interesting and in my opinion changed by entire experience from a negative to a positive one. The manager did not hesitate to naturally make sure that l was brought a beautiful plate of flame grilled sosaties and to top it, he offered me a lovely milkshake "on-the-house."
Now, that simple yet profound gesture made the world of difference and l had to compliment him on his service excellence. That is what makes people come back to a restaurant even if there might have been something wrong...but if we as customers could just keep our cool and be respectful and understand that not all things in life have to be perfect, then maybe sometimes you will get a better result from simply being kind and respectful.
Thank you Nando's and thank you to the staff of this branch for your wonderful hospitality.
Kind regards,
Ps Mike
