I am not a very big fan of fish but the fish here is the highlight of my trips to Durban. I love the casual vibe and the nice view of all the boats in the harbor. Just sad that most of the old sailor themed decor seems to be gone...
Amazing food and amazing views! I had the seafood basket for a variety and I would go back again and again for their deep fried prawns which are sinfully crunchy and tasty beyond compare. The fish is fresh and crispy and they're very generous with the chip portions! The calamari was yummy but the deep fried prawns stole the show for me. Very chilled yet vibey atmosphere, we sat on the balcony overlooking the boats docking in and out and watching the seagulls fly about. There's just something about the sea breeze hitting your face and the clink of wine glasses and laughter in the air. I love this place.
Throw on a pair of sunnies and boardies and head off to the balcony at Pirates Arms, Wilson's Wharf just before lunch time on a Saturday, and have yourself the best large fish and chips you'll ever have in Durban! Ignore the decor. Don't expect smart. It's nowhere near hipster. Just chill and enjoy the sun on your back, the cool cocktail you're sipping on, the best batter and freshest, biggest piece of hake you'll ever have.
